Art Cruise on the French River Oise – 2027

A Floating Atelier Through the History of Art
Date: May 5th-11th, 2027
Media:

Levels: All levels welcome

Imagine waking each morning to mist drifting over the river, church bells echoing through medieval villages, and the changing light that inspired generations of the world’s greatest painters.

In 2027, Workshops in France invites artists aboard a private French barge for an extraordinary painting journey through the Oise Valley — sailing through the landscapes that shaped Corot, Daubigny, Pissarro, Cézanne, Renoir, Monet, and Van Gogh. This is not simply a cruise. It is an immersive artistic expedition through the birthplace and evolution of modern painting.

Traveling from Normandy toward Paris, guests will move through the remarkable artistic arc from Classical and Salon painting traditions, to Barbizon naturalism and plein air painting, through the birth of Impressionism, and finally into the emotional intensity of Post-Impressionism.

Along the way, we’ll paint riverside villages, cathedral towns, forests, wheat fields, reflections, cafés, and quiet riverbanks while tracing the artistic revolution that forever changed the way painters saw light, atmosphere, and everyday life.

Highlights include Pontoise — where Pissarro and Cézanne helped reshape modern landscape painting — and Auvers-sur-Oise, where Van Gogh spent the final months of his life creating some of the most powerful works in Western art.

Life aboard the barge is designed for artists: intimate, inspiring, and deeply restorative. Paint from the deck, sketch during village walks, enjoy wine and conversation at sunset, and experience France at the pace it was meant to be discovered.
