Our workshop isn’t just for artists—non-painting partners/friends and relatives are warmly welcomed! While artists focus on their craft, partners will have opportunities to explore the stunning Scottish Highland’s region at their own pace. As the birthplace of the sport, Scotland has no shortage of iconic green courses. From discovering regal estates like the royal family’s Balmoral Castle and charming villages to capturing scenic landscapes through photography or simply enjoying quiet moments of relaxation, there’s something for everyone. Sharing this unforgettable journey to Scotland allows the artist and their non-painting partner to experience its culture, beauty, and history side-by-side, creating lasting memories together. As a testament to the success of the non-painting partners’ program, we welcome back the same couples who return to our workshops and retreats again and again.

Highlands, Scotland
Step into a world of inspiration at our magnificent Scottish estate in the Royal Deeside, bordering the Balmoral Castle grounds—the beloved summer home of the British Royal Family. Nestled at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains, this grand manor offers an extraordinary setting surrounded by over 10,000 acres of pristine countryside.
The estate is a painter’s dream, with sweeping landscapes that include lush woodlands, moors, rivers, and rolling hills. Each day brings new adventures as we explore the region’s castles, dramatic coastal scenes, and historic villages. There’s also ample opportunity to create on the estate itself, where wildlife is abundant—deer, foxes, soaring birds, and salmon in the River Dee offer endless inspiration.
Guests stay in a stately traditional stone manor house, where they are welcomed with comfort and care. With beautifully appointed accommodations and warm hospitality, it’s the perfect place to relax, create, and connect. This is more than just a workshop—it’s a rare opportunity to live and paint amidst the timeless beauty of the Scottish Highlands.

“Although I paint numerous studies on location, my landscapes are actually less about describing a specific place than they are about the feelings they evoke. In an impressionistic, tonal style I hope to convey the emotional connection that I had with each scene.”- Jane Hunt
Moving cross-Atlantic three times in my early years, I spent much of my life with an underlying sense of homesickness. This yearning propelled me to create a sense of ‘home’ within my landscapes.
My greatest hope is that my work gives its viewers this same sense of comfort and connectedness; a gentle place to rest.”
Following her move from England to the US as a teenager, Jane Hunt received her B.F.A. in illustration from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Hunt’s work is represented by galleries internationally.
After working as an illustrator for several years Hunt eventually returned to her true love: landscape oil painting. With a growing following and a demanding schedule we are grateful that Jane decided that we were the perfect hosts for her 2026 Workshop in Scotland.
