About Peter Sandground

Scottish photographer Peter Sandground is known for documenting all aspects of life and culture. Through his lens, he has captured arts and culture, sporting and high-profile events, as well as the rugged and spectacular landscape of Scotland and beyond. His portraits of public figures have graced magazines and are regularly commissioned. His portfolio of celebrities includes Madonna, HRH Queen Elizabeth II, Outlander star Sam Heughan, and Alan Cumming, presenter of The Traitors US.

The demand for his eye-stopping photography has taken him across Europe and beyond, where his client list encompasses a wide range of editorial and business companies, including Microsoft’s Global Summits, the Scottish Whisky Industry, and the Scottish Arts Council. He is highly experienced in all aspects of photography, earning awards including both Scottish & British Sports Photographer of the Year.

“Taking photographs and capturing extraordinary moments has always been more than a profession to me,” says Peter. “It really is a labour of love, a real vocation.

“Teaching photography allows me to share my passion for taking great images. More than just technical skills, I can share my creative process, helping others develop their own special moments.”

From his early days, Peter worked as a copyboy in Glasgow newspapers, forever hanging around the darkroom, where his passion for photography was born. He studied photojournalism and worked in the newspaper and magazine industry before joining the Sunday Times, the UK’s biggest-selling weekend paper. He became the photo editor on the innovative and multi-award-winning Sunday Herald in Scotland.

About Jamie Simpson

For over two decades, Jamie Simpson’s work has made him one of the UK’s most sought-after photographers. He honed his craft as a photographer with the longest-standing national newspaper in the world, Scotland’s Glasgow Herald. He has since enjoyed an extensive career as a photographer across many of the UK’s most acclaimed film and television productions and continues to work with top entertainment producers.

His credits include entertainment giants such as Netflix and the BBC, as well as the global charity, the King’s Foundation. He is the industry’s go-to UK photographer for portraiture, capturing performers in authentic, unguarded moments that reveal the character and emotion of their performance. Jamie is also a gifted instructor; generous when sharing technical skills and cultivating instincts in others for taking great photos. That instinct was sharpened long before the film set, through years of shooting images for high-end magazines.

“Photography demands equal parts technical precision and the ability to draw something genuine out of a subject,” explains Jamie. “It’s an experience that gave me a thorough grounding in light, but more than that, what it truly takes to make a portrait sing.”

During the workshop, Jamie will share practical techniques and compositional thinking that will help develop an unshakable confidence. You will learn to level up your skills, whether you’re photographing people in dramatic landscapes, intimate settings, or the beautiful, unpredictable light of a retreat location.

This Workshop Includes:

  •
  • 5 days of hands-on photography instruction with practical field sessions.
  • Learn to confidently shoot in full manual mode and master your camera settings.
